The full goodness of life can only be experienced through actually knowing Jesus as the one who has saved you from your sins. Below we’ve listed what the Bible says about sin, punishment for sin, forgiveness of sin and eternal life with God through faith in Jesus. Please read through this and feel free to ask any questions through the pastoral email addresses provided on this site’s "Contact Us!" page. God bless you and we’re glad you’re here!
Forgiveness and Assurance
If you want God’s forgiveness and the assurance that you belong to God in this life and will abide in heaven for all eternity, then you may have that assurance only by giving your life to Jesus Christ. Here’s how…
Recognize that even one sin eternally separates you from God. Understand that you are a sinner and need God’s forgiveness in order to escape judgment. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." Romans 3:23-24 (ESV)
"He who believes in the Son (Jesus) has eternal life; but he who does not trust in the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." John 3:36 (NASB)
Understand that you are helpless to atone (pay the price) for your own sins. "For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment." Isaiah 64:6 (NASB)
"Everyone in the world is accountable to God. No person can do enough good things to earn God’s forgiveness." Romans 3:19b-20a
Recognize that Jesus died to pay the price you owe for your sins. "Christ died for the ungodly."Romans 5:6 (NASB)
"For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God." 1 Peter 3:18 (NASB)
(In Jesus) God has forgiven all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us...this He set aside, nailing it to the cross. (Colossians 2:13-14)
Recognize that Jesus is the only way you can be forgiven and have a genuine relationship with God. "Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the father but through Me.’" John 14:6 (NASB)
"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12 (NASB)
To be saved you must desire to be forgiven and to give your life to Jesus. You must choose to trust Christ alone for forgiveness and commit to living for Him. You must believe that He is God who died for you, who was raised from the dead for you, and who can forgive all your sins for all-time.
"If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Every one who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved." Romans 10:9, 13
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 (NASB)
Being saved is a matter of your heart, not the product of some "magic" words. You must decide to ask God to forgive you on the sole basis of Christ’s sacrifice. You must decide to give your life to Jesus because you know He purchased you with His own blood and because you love Him and want to follow Him–because you want to be with Him forever. If this is what you want: forgiveness and eternal life, then read the following prayer. If it expresses your true desire, then pray it to God and mean it.
"Dear God, I am a sinner. I ask that you forgive me of all my sins. I’m trusting in Jesus’ sacrifice alone as payment for my sins. Jesus I know you died on the cross for me. I know you rose from the dead so I can be sure you have the authority to give me eternal life. Please save me. I give my life to you right now and I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit. From this moment forward I commit my life to you. Thank you for forgiving and saving me."
